Vintage 1977 Gibson Thunderbird White Bicentennial Bass Guitar Upgraded
Vintage 1977 Gibson Thunderbird White Bicentennial Bass Guitar Upgraded
This particular guitar is a wonderful players graded / upgraded bass guitar with one heck of a history tracked back. I doubt you’ll find a better sounding and playing Thunderbird again. It started life as a 1977 Gibson Thunderbird Bicentennial in Black, and was allegedly purchased by Steve Baker at Electric Ladyland in Bristol from Pete Way of UFO. When it was purchased from Electric Ladyland, the owner had it fully restored in order to play it live.
It was restored by renowned luthier Tom Waghorn and included the following. The back of the neck was strengthened (not repaired as it wasn’t broken) in order to compensate heavy strings. The Hipshot gold machine heads were added, along with a d-tuning peg, and the Seymour Duncan pickups to match. The bridge and knobs are replacement golds too. Tom replaced the pots, and had a nice active pre-amp added, with the battery professionally routed underneath the pickguard. These are becoming increasingly hard to come by, so grab it whilst you can! It comes complete with a moulded Epiphone hard case. I’m THRILLED to announce this sale. Please see the pictures below as they form part of the description.
