It’s not often I let one of my own collection go – only to make way for another. This is by far the best 1970s Gibson SG Standard ‘lefty’ I have seen for sale for some time. This one hasn’t got the classic Gibson neck break (checked under blacklight), and does have the rarely seen original hard case. I found this one a few years back when the long term owner bought it in to my place alongside an early 70s Tele. He’d played the Tele to death, but this one he’d kept under his bed pretty much unused.
The serial number, ‘Made in USA’ stamp, and the 137-74 pot codes all date this to 1974. It was also incredibly well looked after by the previous owner – the condition is to die for! The only thing worth mentioning are a few small marks to the body and a couple of more noticeable ones to the rear of the guitar body. Honestly – it’s a real nice example! I doubt you’ll find another example like it! Please see the pictures below as these form part of my description.
