I am unbelievably excited to offer this incredible piece of history for sale. I got a call about 3 months ago from the nephew of the original owner of this beauty. He’d found it tucked away in the corner of their loft upon clearing out the house after his uncle passed away. He couldn’t believe what he’d found. The guitar was quite literally sat unplayed since late 1967 when he’d packed in playing in his band. Alongside this was one of the first Watkins Copicat’s ever produced (the guy had stupidly good taste!). This particular guitar was ordered brand new by the previous owner. Everything he had received, he kept with the guitar from new. This includes all the paperwork, manuals, hang tags, case, transformer, plectrums, the list can quite literally go on!

When I got this, it had been unused for nearly 60 years and so required my tech to go through it and replace a few internal components that had perished over the years. This was done at a high cost and spread out of 3 months of work in order to make sure it was done properly (I wanted to do this piece justice!). So, it now works incredibly well – probably the best one in the world. I’ve read that only 70 of these were produced and sold – including one to John Lennon – and I almost guarantee this will be the best one out there by a country mile! Cosmetically in brilliant condition except a few hairlines to the finish which is simply from being stored in a loft.
Again – compared to all the ones I’ve seen online, this is by far the best conditioned. I cannot express with words just how amazing this example is – you really do need to see it to understand. Please see the pictures below as these form part of my description.
