I am excited to offer the following from the incredible Ronnie Lane Mobile Studio collection. The LMS has a history spanning from 1972 and is the most successful mobile studio in the world and (after Abbey Road) the most successful studio of any kind, still in existence anywhere outside of the US. The studio has recorded the most successful artists of all time, at the most significant stages of their careers and is responsible for more than 750 million records sold. Now is the time to let some of the collection back into the wild, and I have the privilege of doing just that!
Condition
This is a rather nice 1960s Trixon Luxus kit, used to record many albums in the LMS amongst other London based studios over the years. It was sold to the LMS owner, Mark, as an ex Phil Seaman kit. There is no provenance with this though unfortunately. Made in Republic of Ireland stickers on the 12, 16, 20, and Made in Germany on the Snare. All drums have had a clean with lugs in situ, cobwebs cleaned off and a general tidy up. Tension rods were all brown with rust and flaking chrome, so these have all been clean and flaking chrome removed. Wrap has uneven fading across all drums along with black spots from gold sparkle burning in the wrap. Chrome work is pitted throughout, this is typical for Trixons of the era. Slotted tension rods throughout, replacement tension rod washers where previous ones were missing. Period used heads throughout. The 20” batter head is a newer replacement Aquarian Vintage. Parallel snare throw works well.
Snare is missing tension knob for damper. Floor tom damper felt has been replaced as original was missing. Bass drum damper for resonant side has come loose on one side where it attaches to bass drum. The damper still works but worth noting. Some of the plastic around the lugs has split but lugs are all holding fine, mostly cosmetic. Bass drum hoops have heavy paint loss and could do with a repaint. One replacement Teardrop Trixon bass drum tension rod. Heads on 12, 16 and snare are heavily used so could do with replacing. Now in playable condition with plenty of character. Grab a piece of rock n roll history!
