This beauty was found recently by the nephew of the original owner, who bought this within days of the Copicat being released. He played it a few times in a local band, and then put it up in his loft where it had been until his death at age 92 a few weeks ago! It’s one of the first Copicat’s to have been made, most likely sold within a few days of release as all 100x of the first batch were sold within one day! It’s the earliest I’ve seen for sale – ever! Really couldn’t believe my eyes seeing this one – unlike the majority of well-used Copicats, this one was in brilliant condition cosmetically and even came with the original red vinyl cover which had taken the brunt of the storage and left the unit itself in brilliant condition. Internally it has all the original valves which are working brilliantly, and my tech has gone through it and replaced the bits that were not working after nearly 65 years of being unused. It now works great and sounds awesome. The previous owner had a socket fitted to allow a jack plug to power a footswitch. This is a real historic piece for sure and I doubt you’ll ever find another.
