Vintage I 35 Description

The I-35LCVintage was made by Collings with a focus on vintage tone.
The I-35LCVintage was made based on the highly acclaimed I-35, and was completed after several years of development and repeated production of numerous prototypes. It is a masterpiece that evolves the vintage feel and tone of 1960s instruments with Collings’ unique craftsmanship.

The semi-hollow body, slightly smaller than the ES-335, has a laminate structure with a center block.
This body contains Collings’ secret recipe, which was arrived at after trial and error in various parts, such as the maple laminate structure and the material of the center block.

The moderately framed maple top has a very astringent burst color and is elegantly aged, typical of Collings, with countless weather checks. The sides and back are finished in walnut color, which brings out the beauty of the wood grain.

The neck is made of carefully selected mahogany, and the fingerboard is made of tightly grained rosewood. The scale is set to 631.8mm, slightly longer than the general medium scale, to control the tight playing feel and sound of the instrument. The neck shape with a moderate thickness and a smoothly processed heel with a 43mm nut width creates a comfortable playability.

The P.U is equipped with Throbak’s ESG-102B, which is unmatched by other companies in reproducing P.A.F. The P.U uses a short type Alnico 5 magnet for the bridge and a short type Alnico 2 magnet for the neck, each finished with 7.5k 7.4k DC resistance. In addition, the pot is DiMarzio 500K and the capacitor is Luxe Bumblebee, completing the sound of the I-35LC Vintage.

Rich midrange with a faithful response to picking and a moderate compression feeling. It’s amazing that this is brand new. It weighs just 3.26kg, making it as lightweight as a vintage ES-335, and this is another factor that should not be overlooked as it has a major impact on the sound and feel of the guitar.

It is rare to find a guitar that has such an aura that you know it is a quality instrument the moment you open the hard case.
