I am excited to offer the following from the incredible Ronnie Lane Mobile Studio collection. The LMS has a history spanning from 1972 and is the most successful mobile studio in the world and (after Abbey Road) the most successful studio of any kind, still in existence anywhere outside of the US. The studio has recorded the most successful artists of all time, at the most significant stages of their careers and is responsible for more than 750 million records sold. Now is the time to let some of the collection back into the wild, and I have the privilege of doing just that!
This is a stupidly rare 5-ply maple 12-piece Slingerland drum kit, finished in pink and gold hardware. This was ordered brand new by the owner of the LMS, Mark St John, and was originally ordered as a 5-piece shell pack (no hardware). He later added period correct extra drums and hardware. The kit comes with the matching 1970s Slingerland Gene Krupa Niles USA 14×6.5 COB Snare Drum, fitted with gate trigger microphone inside (easily removable), along with all the necessary stands. It even has custom made flight cases that hold the majority, alongside a few other hard cases.
This has been used to record many albums in the LMS amongst other London based studios over the years. I’ve also attached a couple of photographs of the kit being used in its prime. It has had some new heads put on recently when it was used in Metropolis Studio, so it’s pretty much ready to go. Please see the pictures below as these form part of my description.
